XML Validation errors in Macrium backups

For several weeks I've been getting an XML validation error on my
Macrium backups. Needless to say, that's made me fretful, as who knows
whether they could make a successful Restore should I need it. Ran a
chkdsk on the partition with 'fix errors' box checked-no help.

Found this 'fix' in Macrium Help:
https://knowledgebase.macrium.com/display/KNOW7/XML+validation+error
Applying this fix to a completed backup DOES make the error go away,
BUT the next time I make another backup the error crops up again.

I expect I've created this mishmosh myself somehow, but I don't know
what I might have done to cause it. I'd like to find a way to get rid
of the error altogether.

Error <disk> 0 <partition> 5 is not valid.

If this is a scheduled backup, you'd want your disk identification
in the XML, to match what's actually on the hardware right now.

I've never opened one of those XML, to see what is inside :-)

Disk Management also labels disks with various numbers.
You can correlate what is in the XML (or in the error message),
with what you see in Disk Management.

If you deleted a partition, that could have an effect.

Notice, that some utilities actually *renumber* the damn partitions.
That is a bad thing, for many reasons. Say you start with 1 2 3 4 5.
You delete 3. Now there is 1 2 4 5. Now, a utility comes along that
makes the partitions sequential. 1 2 3 4. The XML now has an error
that "there is no 5".

Scheduled backups require a stable setup.

XML is used only in defining a backup job. You create the .xml file
when you define a backup. My guess is you somehow changed the drive
configuration on your computer so there is no longer a physical drive
where specified in the backup job file. What you used to back up is not
the configuration you have now. You could edit the backup job to see if
you can correctly identify what partitions you now want to include, or
delete the backup definition to create a new one for however your drive
config now exists.
