Backing up Win7 to Ext WD HD

I'm looking to update my current MageiaLinux Ver 6.0 to Ver 8.0 or 9.0,
so thought I'd first back-up my Win7 Partitions (C:, F:, G: and H: all
on one physical Spinner Harddrive) on to my Ext 2GB WD Hardrive first.

So yesterday I booted into my Win7 and tried to do the back-up using the
Win7 installed Back-up function .... but it would, seemingly, only let
me back up to the same HD or to my DVD drive. There was a Drop-Down
arrow associated with the DVD drive selection but only the DVD Drive was
listed.

There didn't seem to be any way I could back up to the Ext HD which was
connected to two usb ports.

Did I miss something??

(If worst comes to worst, I can Back-up the Win7 drives when I also
Back-up my Linux installations but I thought I'd also do it from with-in
Win7, you know, just in case!!)

It just occurred to me .... I may have ONLY previously used this
External HD under Linux so it may have been formatted under Linux.

Could this make it "appear" to Win7 as being Unformatted??

A 2GB drive will not have sufficient space; therefore not listed.
If you meant to write "2TB", then it's a different story. In that case
let us see a screenshot of W7's Disk Management.

Yes, sorry, should have been 2TB drive.

I'll get back to you with the Screen Shot.

It would appear unformattted if its a format that Windows does not
recognize. If there's nothing you wan on the disk, reformat it with
something Windows does recognize.

Windows 7 Ultimate SP! x64

I have three discs. Once each week, I back them up to one of those
discs, opne disc at a time. Yes, my backup application warns that
backing up a disc to itself is not a good idea. Afterwards, I move the
resulting backup files to a portable drive, which I store remotely.

In Linux, do the equivalent of

sudo apt install disktype # Use your package manager to install "disktype" utility

sudo disktype /dev/sda
sudo disktype /dev/sdb

Then paste the output of disktype for the two drives,
so we can see it.

Below is a worked example. The text from "disktype". A picture of some "gnome-disks" output.

Windows won't show Linux filesystem types, where Linux will show all the filesystem types.
